本日はどうぞよろしくお願いします！Quollioに入る前は、どんなキャリアを歩んできましたか？

今までいろんなことに幅広くチャレンジしてきました。最初はCやC++、CUDA、OpenCLといった扱いやすいながらも高パフォーマンスなプログラミング言語を使っていて、システム寄りの開発や最適化に取り組んでいました。その後、機械学習や大規模言語モデル（LLM）に興味が出てきて、PythonでML関連のプロジェクトに関わるようになりました。さらにバックエンドエンジニアとして、Node.jsやGoを使ったスケーラブルなプロダクトの構築にも取り組んできました。こうした経験を通じて、技術スタックにとらわれることなく、柔軟に解決できる力をつけることができたと思っています。

Quollioに入社した理由は何ですか？魅力を感じたポイントも教えてください！

データカタログの分野には将来性を感じていて、「これは面白くなりそうだな」と思ったことがきっかけです。プロダクトの初期フェーズから関われるっていうのも、自分にとっては大きな魅力でした。スタートアップならではのスピード感や、自分の意見がプロダクトに反映されやすい自由度の高さも好きですし、Quollioのビジョンやチームの雰囲気もすごく良かったので、「ここでやってみたい！」と思いました。

現在はどんなプロジェクトに取り組んでいますか

データカタログの中核となるバックエンドのスケーラビリティ向上に取り組んでいます。ビジネスの急成長に伴って、取り扱うデータの規模も複雑さもどんどん増えてきているので、その成長を支えるためのシステムに進化させているところです。大規模なデータを効率よく取り込み・処理・検索できる仕組みを作っています。

使っている技術スタックや開発環境を教えてください。

メインで使っている言語はGoです。インフラやバックエンドでは、AWSのLambda、ECS、API Gateway、SQS、OpenSearch、DynamoDBなど、クラウドサービスを組み合わせて使っています。CI/CDはGitHub Actions、インフラはTerraformで管理していて、クラウドネイティブでモダンな開発環境になっています。

技術選定や開発時に気をつけていることは何ですか？

スタートアップではスピードが命なので、まずは「素早く作って試せること」を重視しています。とはいえ、スピード一辺倒ではなくて、長期的に見て拡張しやすく、安定した基盤もしっかり考えて技術を選ぶようにしています。スピードと安定性のバランスが大事ですね！

今の仕事で一番大変なことは何ですか？

既存のコードに対して、スケーラビリティを上げるために手を入れるのが難しいところです。昔の設計のままでは今の要件に対応しきれないところもあるので、そこをどうアップデートしていくかが課題ですね。しっかりスケールして、信頼性のあるアーキテクチャにしていくのが目下のチャレンジです。

Quollioのプロダクトやサービスについてどう思っていますか？

リリースを重ねるごとに、プロダクトの完成度がどんどん上がってきてると感じます！最近ではワークフローエンジンやスプレッドシートビューといった、使いやすさを重視した新機能も増えてきて、プロダクトとしてかなり進化してきたなと思います。このまま進化していけば、業界をリードする存在になれると思っています。

今後、どんな進化を期待していますか？

データカタログの基礎をもっと強化しつつ、生成AI（Generative AI: GenAI）や大規模言語モデル（Large Language Model: LLM）を活用した新しい機能の追加にも期待しています。そういった技術が入ることで、ユーザー体験が大きく変わるはずです。

Quollioのプロダクトで面白いと感じるところや、難しいところは？

面白いのは、ユーザーの多様なニーズに応えられる柔軟さが求められるところですね。一方で難しいのは、データ量の増加に合わせてパフォーマンスと安定性を維持し続けることです。リアルタイム処理やマルチテナント対応も含めて、技術的にやりがいのある部分が多いです。

チームの雰囲気や文化はどんな感じですか？

一言で言うと、フラットで話しやすくて、いい意味でリラックスして働ける環境です。私は基本的にリモート勤務ですが、Slackでいつでも誰かに相談できる距離感があります。お互いに信頼して任せ合う空気があるので、やりたいことにどんどん挑戦できますよ。

働き方のスタイルを教えてください！

まず、より大きな目的を把握して、そこからタスクを細かく分けて計画的に進めるスタイルです。一人でじっくり進めることも好きですが、チームでの知識共有や意見交換も大切にしています。フィードバックは常に歓迎で、より良くするためなら改善もどんどん取り入れてます！

多国籍チームで働く上で、大事にしていることは何ですか？

「違いを楽しむこと」と、「丁寧なコミュニケーション」ですね。それぞれのバックグラウンドが違うからこそ、学びも多いですし、そこから良いアイデアが生まれることも多いですね。

最近ハマっている技術や趣味はありますか？

最近はAWSやTerraformなど、クラウドインフラを使った設計にすごく興味があります。スケーラブルで信頼性のあるシステムを作るには、やはりクラウドの理解が不可欠だなと感じています。それと、LLMやMLOpsにも注目していて、どうやってAIモデルをプロダクションで運用していくのか、すごく面白いテーマだと思ってます。

今後チャレンジしたい技術分野は？

大規模な分散システムの設計・最適化にもっと深く関わっていきたいですね。また、生成AIやLLMの分野でも、自分のスキルを広げていきたいです。AIとスケーラブルなシステムが組み合わさる未来にワクワクしています！

一緒に働く仲間に求めているスキルや姿勢はありますか？

好奇心があって、自分の仕事に責任を持てる人。それから、チームとしっかりコミュニケーションが取れる人ですね。技術は後から学べるので、まずは「学ぶ姿勢」と「素直さ」が大事だと思っています。

A Team Where Trust and Challenge Thrive ーThe Growth of Quollio’s Product and Engineersー

Dinesh brings experience across diverse technical fields and is currently working as a Senior Backend Engineer at Quollio, focusing on building a scalable infrastructure. Under a team culture that balances autonomy and collaboration, we had an in-depth conversation about how he works and the future he envisions.

What kind of career path did you have before joining Quollio?

I’ve had a very diverse and rewarding career path so far. I began my journey working with low-level and high-performance computing languages like C, C++, CUDA, and OpenCL, which gave me a strong foundation in system-level programming and optimization. Over time, my interests expanded into the fields of machine learning and large language models, where I worked on various ML projects using Python. Later, I transitioned into backend engineering, where I had the opportunity to build scalable, production-ready systems using modern technologies like Node.js and Go. This broad experience across different domains and tech stacks has helped me develop a versatile engineering mindset and a strong problem-solving approach, which I continue to bring to my work at Quollio.

What made you decide to join Quollio, and what aspects did you find particularly appealing?

I decided to join Quollio because I see tremendous potential in the data catalog space. What particularly appealed to me was the opportunity to be part of a product’s journey from its early stages, where I could actively contribute to shaping its direction and impact. I’ve always had a soft spot for startups, as they offer a dynamic environment and the freedom to take ownership and innovate. Additionally, Quollio's visionary leadership and the chance to work alongside talented, passionate colleagues made it an easy decision for me.

Could you tell us about the projects or products you are currently working on?

I’m currently working on a project focused on scaling the backbone of our data catalog platform. As the organization experiences rapid growth, the volume and complexity of our data are increasing significantly. To support this expansion, we’re enhancing the scalability and performance of our backend systems to ensure they can handle large-scale data ingestion, processing, and search efficiently. 

What technology stack and development environment do you use?

Our primary programming language is Go (Golang). For infrastructure and backend services, we extensively leverage various AWS services, including Lambda, ECS, API gateway, SQS, OpenSearch and DynamoDB. Our development environment is cloud-native and optimized for scalability, high availability, and event-driven architecture. We follow CI/CD practices (GitHub Actions) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) for efficient deployment and maintenance.

What do you keep in mind when making technology choices and during the development process?

In a startup environment, speed of execution and rapid feature delivery are critical. When making technology decisions, we prioritize tools and frameworks that support fast development cycles and quick iteration. At the same time we strike a balance between agility and stability, selecting solutions that not only help us move fast but also allow us to build a solid foundation for future growth.

What is the biggest challenge in your current role?

As a backend engineer, one of the biggest challenges I face is achieving scalability while working with legacy codebases. Legacy systems often come with architectural limitations and tight coupling, which makes it difficult to adapt to modern scalability needs. Designing and evolving a robust, scalable backend architecture that can handle growing data and traffic demands remains a key challenge.

How do you feel about Quollio’s products and services?

Quollio's products are evolving steadily and becoming more robust with each release. We've recently introduced impactful features such as the workflow engine and spreadsheet view, which significantly enhance user experience and flexibility. With a clear vision and strong leadership, I’m confident that Quollio is on the path to becoming a major player in the data governance space.

What kind of future developments do you expect or hope for regarding our products and services?

In addition to continuing to strengthen the core foundations of our data catalog, I believe we will see exciting developments through the integration of Generative AI and LLMs.

What do you find interesting and challenging about the product?

The most challenging aspect, in my view, is maintaining performance and reliability as the system scales, especially when dealing with large volumes of data, real-time processing, and multi-tenant environments.

How would you describe the atmosphere and culture of the team at Quollio?

Cool, collaborative, and highly empowering! Despite being a remote team, we are just one Slack message away from each other. Team members are highly responsible and supportive. It's an environment where you feel trusted, connected, and motivated to do your best work.

What is your working style like?

I like to begin by understanding the broader goals and breaking them down into manageable tasks. I'm comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of my responsibilities. At the same time, I highly value teamwork and believe in open knowledge sharing. I'm always open to feedback to continuously improve both the process and the outcome.

What do you value most when working with a multinational team?

I value diverse perspectives and clear communication when working with a multinational team.

Are there any technologies or hobbies you’re really enjoying these days?

Apart from my regular work, I’m actively and deeply exploring cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS services and Terraform, as I believe cloud-native, scalable architectures are the backbone of modern applications. Recently, I’ve also been diving into the world of large language models (LLMs) and MLOps. I’m fascinated by how AI models are operationalized in production environments, covering areas like model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.

What technical areas do you want to challenge yourself with in the future?

In the future, I aim to deepen my expertise in building and optimizing highly scalable distributed systems that can handle large volumes of data and traffic efficiently. I'm also excited to explore advancements in Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Could you tell us about the skills and attitudes you especially look for?

We look for people who are curious, eager to learn, and take ownership of their work. It's important they work well with others and communicate clearly.
